Summer Heat Is Coming ☀️
Western Canada’s summer season is almost here, with warmer temperatures just around the corner.
That’s great news for enjoying the sun, but it also means maintenance and operations teams need to watch for signs of overheating in their air compressors, including higher energy consumption, reduced capacity, or unexpected shutdowns.
One common and preventable summer issue is fouled cooling equipment. Over time, intercoolers and aftercoolers can accumulate deposits from water quality, airborne contaminants, and general system debris.
As shown in the photo, clogged cooler tubes can restrict the flow of cooling water. As fouling increases, heat transfer drops, internal temperatures rise, and compressor performance declines.
Custom Energized Air routinely performs cooler maintenance to help keep large centrifugal compressors running properly when summer temperatures climb.
